The amount of people with AIDs all over the world is extremely overwhelming. AIDs is transmitted sexually, by food, water, air or other means. Although, the epidemic is most common in African countries, the most likely source of the virus comes from U.S. homosexuals. After reading Katzs’ article, it opened my eyes to the scary disease and made me wonder. If women in Africa need to exchange sex inorder to get the material things she needs to survive, how is that fair? I think more actions need to be taken in helping these women get what they need, without the risk of being infected with HIV/AIDs. Because the women are more vulnerable than the men, deaths are usually what result in the end. With just so much as water and sanitation, it could reduce the high rate of vulnerability to other diseases along with AIDs in African countries. The fact that AIDs in spread so easily, scares me. The rate of people infected goes up every year which is shocking. When are people going to learn the consequences of their actions, and think before they act? I think the first step for people to take, is to get tested, and have their significant other get tested as well. Knowing is better than not knowing.

There is no question that the AIDS epidemic needs to be taken care of. It is a shame that more is not being done. Especially in countries like Africa where AIDS is really bad. I agree with you, it is not fair what these people have to go through just to live. It is obvious that there is not enough being done to help these people. They are people just like everyone else. Of course, the U.S. would never tolerate any kind of terrorism and would always try to defend its people. and deserve to be helped in any way possible. AIDS cases are increasing more and more over the years. It is a vicious cycle that these people have to go through. They get AIDS by exchanging sex for food and necessities which gives those AIDS, and kills them. The worst part is that they need to do those things to live
I agree that it is very scary that this disease is spreading so rapidly. It is a life threatening disease that anybody can get. I think that more should be done towards helping AIDS victims everywhere. Africa is where they need to start, because it would be hard to get rid of AIDS if they did not start where it is the worst. If more money was put towards something simple such as sanitation, it could make a great difference in the number of AIDS victims. One thing is for sure, more and more people will die if something is no done to help.

I completely agree with what you said about it only takes a little to do a lot to prevent AIDs in these countries. However, it takes a lot to get these little things into place including money, manpower, and will. The will is the one thing that is for sure there to help fight this epidemic. With an ever growing population of educated and aware citizens across the world, the awareness for AIDS prevention is on the rise and will continue to keep growing. I also agree with what you said, that it’s as simple as getting tested. I think that the UNAIDS should be testing every person in the areas where there is a high concentration of AIDS and try to get the majority of southern Africa tested in general. Once diagnosed a person can now know if he or she is able to have sex or spread the virus and can also help prevent the spread. I believe that if it continues to get worse, the UN should give identification labels to infected individuals so that it makes it illegal for them to have sex with a non infected person and to help prevent the total spread

Its horrible how AIDS is taking over nations and communities across the globe especially Africa. Although I do not believe making it illegal to have sexual activity with those infected would be a wise decision providing tests to identify those infect is a very valid idea.

I agree with you that AIDS is getting out of control. Women have a mentality that they must have sex in order to get what they want but i think they can do other things to get what they need. Women selling themselves to provide is kind of like women in sweatshops doing hard labor so they can provide. I think everyone who is sexually active should get tested because even though you probably don’t want to know you have to just to protect others. In Africa i understand it is poor and it very hard to keep everything sanitized but there is tons of things they can do to stop this epidemic. You summed it up pretty well that AIDS is scary and it is lethal so our best bet is to try to help these poorer countries with safer sex practices and better sanitation. And for people in our own country they know its out there they just need to man up, get tested, and practice safer sex.
